Project Aranya is a large-scale carbon project in Central India, for which Amrut Nature Solutions supported the Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) certification process. The work focused on developing baseline assessments, defining impact pathways and designing monitoring systems, all of which were integrated into a validation-ready Project Description (PD). The engagement involved translating extensive field-level activities into a clear and structured evidence base aligned with CCB requirements.

1. Baseline Development
A sampling strategy and baseline surveys were designed and executed in accordance with CCB standard requirements. Given the scale of the Central India landscape, the methodology prioritized structured and reproducible data collection.
The field teams from the implementation partners were trained on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality checks, followed by direct oversight of baseline data gathering across designated project sites. Multiple levels of QA/QC were built into the data collection process to maintain accuracy and consistency. The resulting socio-economic and land-use data was cleaned and processed to establish the quantitative foundation for the project design.

2. Theory of Change (ToC)
The project’s Theory of Change (ToC) was strengthened through iterative stakeholder engagement, clarifying how field-level activities translate into climate, community and biodiversity outcomes.
The ToC was also aligned with CCB requirements and the design elements of the VCS methodology requirements, ensuring that project interventions are clearly linked to measurable indicators and expected outcomes

3. Monitoring Plan
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) were developed to track community and biodiversity outcomes over the project lifecycle. The monitoring frameworks were established to specify frequencies, methodologies and operational responsibilities.
To maintain data integrity, QA/QC procedures and data validation protocols were also integrated into the workflow, safeguarding the evidence base necessary for subsequent verification cycles.

4. CCB Project Description
In the final phase, all project information was compiled and structured in line with CCB requirements. This included integrating baseline findings, the ToC and the monitoring framework into a validation-ready CCB PD.
